Renewable Energy Capacity Building in Dedza and Balaka

During recent months, the EASE District Energy Officers (DEOs) have been delivering a series of training events in Dedza and Balaka.

The DEOs train front-line officers as one way of mainstreaming energy in the district development planning process. To date 140, development workers/front-line officers have been identified and trained, with participants coming from agriculture, health, education, social welfare, environment, community development, gender and forestry sectors. The gender balance of training reflected that of district front-line worker employment (75% male, 25% female)

To reinforce energy civic education, zone coordinators from National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) Trust in each district were also included in the training.

The three day training equipped each participants with CEM’s two toolkits – Productive Use of Energy and Renewable Energy.
