Through the DEO role, CEM is bridging the information gap between communities and energy regulators and policy makers.
Influx of substandard energy products was one of the key challenges noted in promoting the adoption of renewable energy technology. People tend to lose trust in renewable energy technology when they buy substandard materials which have short life spans and no guarantees. Much as there are a number of distributors in Balaka and Dedza that have authentic products, consumers are not aware of such distributors and the approved standards of renewable energy products. CEM therefore brought together consumers, sellers and government bodies mandated to regulate and enforce standards in order to sensitize the public on Renewable Energy products. This awareness campaign was conducted in collaboration with MERA and MBS on 21 and 22 March 2019 in Dedza and Balaka respectively.
